We don't have to live like the Amish anymore!

Our power came back on Friday night around 6 or so.  We didn’t get home until 7ish, but the house was nice and warm by the time we got home and the furnace had already stopped running by that time.  I had to go out to Gma’s to pick up Beanie, she had spent the day other there (they had a generator & heat!).  I ran into a freak blizzard on my way there.  I find it so strange when you are driving down the road, come around a curve or over a hill and you run into totally different weather.  It was crystal clear until I came up over a hill, then it was snowing so hard I could barely see.  By the time I got to Gma’s house collected my sleeping child and headed home it was crystal clear again.  I got home just in time to see the tail end of Dancing with the Stars- just in time to see Lisa being sent home.  I really like that show.  The only one I missed was this Thursday and that was only because we didn’t have any power.  I am looking forward to the Olympics being over; I want to watch Joey again.  I really hope they don’t cancel him.  I’ve heard that they might.  Sorry, but I really think Joey is better than The Office and 3 Kings/Queens- whatever that show is called!

Gomer went to a birthday party on Friday and returned home on Sunday.  They were going to go to Zehnders in Frankenmuth but decided to just go to Grand Rapids instead.  They stayed at a hotel on Alpine Ave.  Gomer told me when she got home that the Gma had taken the smaller kids to see 8 Below, the 2 Mom’s went to see Brokeback Mountain, and they had dropped off the 4 girls (ages 12 & 13) at Kohl’s.  They shopped there, then walked to Hobby Lobby, then walked back to the hotel.  I wasn’t too happy about that.  Granted the hotel is behind the strip mall that those stores are in and was a 5 minute walk for them.  What I wasn’t too pleased with was THEY ARE 12!  Should they really be left alone in GR, walking from store to store to hotel BY THEMSELVES?  People drive through that strip mall like crazy NASCAR Drivers wearing blindfolds.  They do not pay attention to people walking; all the drivers think they have the right of way even if they don’t.  I would not have allowed them to walk.   I will definitely be rethinking allowing her to go anywhere with that family again.

Friday night Jeff went out with Travis & Duke, after they left the bar Travis just had to go get some food.  They went to this place in White Cloud called Carrs (used to be called the Eaton House).  The owner is someone that I so don’t like.  She is a heavy yucky girl that has wanted Jeff since 1992.  She has lied about having relations with him, (trust me I know he didn’t- she is really yucky!)  Anyway, when they walked into the restaurant there was a table with 4 young girls sitting at it.  One of them turned out to be our niece Shana (she is 13/14 years old!).  Oh, by the way it was about 2:30 in the morning.  It was her weekend at her dad’s house.  He dj’s at the local bowling alley on the weekends- guess Disability doesn’t know about that!  He had left the girls around 2, they were now waiting for a ride home.   Jeff was ticked when he found that out.  He sat with her until their ride got there, then he proceeded to terrorize the poor boy that come to pick up the girls.  Told him that if she were to come up missing that he knew what this kid looked like and just what Jeff would do to this poor kid.  Duke had made a 40/50 year old man leave the restaurant because he was too close to the blonde (our niece).  Mel found out the next morning that her daughter had seen Jeff, she just didn’t know that the dad wasn’t with her.  She was ticked when she found out what really happened.  She had it out with the dad later that day, but the courts say he can do whatever he wants during his parenting time.  Isn’t that crazy?!

Saturday night Mel & I went out.  Lil’Man and Beanie went to Mel’s house- Jason stayed home & watched all the kids.   We went to a bar in White Cloud; it was so loud in there.  Mel even agreed, I was worried that I was just getting old.  After we left the bar (at 1am) we stopped at the bowling alley to see if Shana was there.  Well the bowling alley was closed, but people were still inside closing down.  Shana’s dad’s truck was still there, so that meant that Shana was still there too.  What kind of parent would have their 13 year old daughter out at a bar/bowling alley until the wee hours of the night?  Of course you can’t blame Shana for wanting to go with him, he lets her do things that 21 year olds are able to do.  Mel isn’t happy.  I would have wanted to do the same thing if it were available to me at that age.

Sunday was a lazy day.  We (kids & I) went to church, then to Wal-Mart to get a few things.  I have finally purchased curtains for my room.  Just one more thing to do to my room and the remodel is complete.  If it is ever complete I will post pictures.   I should have taken some before pictures.

This weekend my boss is being awarded “Agent of the Year”.  They (home office) would like his staff to surprise him by being there when it is presented.  I would like to go but I don’t think any of the other girls are going.  It is in Mt Pleasant, about an hour drive from my house.  After the lunch I could go to the casino and play.  I haven’t been to a casino in almost a year.  The last one I went to was w/ Jenn & David in Miami, OK.  I only like casinos if I am winning, I’m funny like that- I like to keep my money.

Well I have work to do, still have to install the new computer.

There has been a lot of excitement in the last 24 hours. To start, I was trying to get out of dodge before the bad weather hit. Lauri and I was going to go visit Jenn and attend Nickie's first birthday party. Happy Birthday little guy! But as always, things happen and I can't go. We got hit last night by an ice storm. Of course they did predict it on the news- but who listens to them they are rarely that correct! All of the trees are encrusted in ice now. It is quite pretty when the sun is shining on it, makes it all sparkly! But the down side is that it makes the weight to heavy for the trees and the branches snap off. As proved by the knee deep pile in my yard!

This should be such fun to clean up! That big branch in the picture on the left bounced, yes bounced, off of my roof. I am really hoping that the beams are not cracked now. I really don't feel paying the $1,000 deductible. However I just found out that since the trees are on the city's property and not mine that they are responsible for any damages to my house! BONUS!!!! We lost power last night around 6pm and the estimated restoration time is SUNDAY AT NOON! I really hope they get the power on before then. My iguana can't be in temteratures lower than 70 degrees. He came to work with me today. I let him out of his tiny temporary shelter to stretch his legs. Here he is staring at the wall. I knew my job was boring but really! He has been the center of attention today however. I have had 3 different families come in, each with 3 kids in tow. The kids have just loved him! I have to check with my dad to see if we can come to his house tonight. He is the only one I can think of that would let us and our animals come over. He is a dog lover and Kotta would be welcomed at his house. He really likes our dog!

Well I do have some work to finish up here before I leave the warmth of my office. I got a new computer today at work so Monday I get to install it and transfer all the data, what fun!

My Living Will

I just had this new living will prepared and thought you might want one like it.

New Living Will Form

I, Chellfire, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.

Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it or lawyers/doctors only interested in running up the bills.

If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:

a Jagerbomb,

a Margarita

a Daiquiri

a Martini

a Sloe Gin Fizz

a Steak

Amazing Chicken

The remote control,

a Bowl of ice cream,

to check my email or read blogs,

Chocolate

Sex

it should be presumed that I won't ever get better.

When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day.

New Info!!!!

Okay, I’ve been told to update.

Here is what has happened since I last blogged.

Wednesday:  I have no recollection of Wednesday.  Oh such memorable days I have!
Thursday: Must have been a repeat of Wednesday.
Friday:  Oh I remember Friday!  Started out as a normal day.  Got to work on time (okay maybe not a normal day!) was hard at work (whatever!), received a phone call at about 11:30ish from Jeff. He was sick.  Thought he was dying sick.  You know, the kind of sick that only a man can experience.  He is on a new medication for his Bi-polarism and I guess one of the possible side effects is that your liver could decide to stop functioning.  He had Hep A back in 1999 or 2000 (I can’t remember Wednesday- do you really expect me to remember when he had Hep A?)  He felt just as horrible on Friday as he did back then.  He spent over 3 hours unable to leave the bathroom out of fear of sharting the bed (that would have ticked me off if he had done that too!)  So he called his mommy.  She told him to call the doctor that ordered the new meds.  When he called that doctor they decided that he either A) had the flu or B) his liver was shutting down.  So he needed to go to ER ASAP!  He calls his friend Travis, who drives him to the nearest ER (15 minutes away).  He calls me after he has all this in motion.  Guess he didn’t like my response earlier when he IM’d me to tell me he couldn’t leave the bathroom.  I merely suggested that he take some Pepto to see if that would help.  So at 11:45 I leave work to drive the hour drive to the ER that he was at.  By the time I get there he is already in a treatment room, but hasn’t been seen yet.  Seeing how the room has a very nice flat panel tv and I am usually stuck in the dungeon my boss calls an office, I decide to catch up on my soaps.  Finally someone comes in to see him, a PA no less.  They decide to hook him up to an IV seeing how he is a bit dehydrated, they run some blood work and take a chest x-ray (to rule out a perforated stomach ulcer).  Turns out he has the intestinal flu!  See, maybe he should have taken the Pepto!  Would have saved him lots of money.  Once the IV was empty they let him go home.  Oh yeah, they also gave him a shot of morphine & some anti-sick-to-the-tummy medicine when they hooked up the IV.   They give him orders to drink only clear liquids and to eat no solids for 24 hours. So when we get home he goes straight to the kitchen and comes out with a glass of Dr Pepper.  When did that become a clear liquid?  Then he proceeds to eat about 5 pieces of toast.  Once Gomer got home from Volleyball practice she & I went to my brother’s to pick up the other 2.  My SIL was nice enough to come pickup the younger 2 so they would not be home by themselves after school.  Gomer & I left, apparently we told Jeff that we would be right back.  I thought he knew me better then to think that I would be “right back” from my brother’s house.  GO FIGURE!  After being at my brother’s for 2.5 hours, Jeff calls.  He wants to know when I am going to be back.  He is thirsty and he is on the couch.  Um, sink is in the kitchen- it has hot & cold running clear liquid!  Go help yourself there big boy!  But no….he has to wait until I get home, another hour or so later.  I was in no hurry.  When I had my tubes tied, he left me home alone with 3 kids, all under the age of 6 at that time.  When I had my tonsils out last year, again I was home alone with 3 kids & no voice for a week!  Aren’t I the lucky one?!    Men!  Why do they turn into such babies when they are sick?

Saturday:  Gomer & I went to GR to go shopping. She needed different underwear for Volleyball.  According to the coach they are to go commando or wear a thong.  I think I might have blogged about this already.  I bought her some “no line” panties for $9 a pair at Kohl’s.  (See Sunday for what I found at Wal*Mart).  We also got her a new pair of knee pads, a new pair of $10 clearance jeans at Kohl’s and a pair of gym pants.  What happened to actually getting something for yourself when you go cloths shopping?  We went to Olga’s for a late lunch.  Gomer had never eaten there before.  She didn’t like that lamb, she had a burger.   Saturday night we had “Family Fun Night” at church.  We went to that, minus Jeff.  It was a lot of fun, the next one is next month.  It will also be the 2nd Saturday of the month.   There was a poker game going on at one table and the rolling of the dice at another, what a fun church we have!  Anyway, when we got home (plus an extra kid- Gomer had a friend/cousin come home w/ us) Jeff was not there.  The cell phone & Travis’ cell phone was there.  So I ran(drove) down to the local pub to see if he was there.  His cousin Josh DJ’s there & said he had left 10 minutes earlier.  By the time Jeff decided to come home I had locked the door on him.  Geez, I had to leave work early the day before because he was so sick he thought he was dying yet he was able to go to the bar w/o even giving me the respect of letting me know where he was?!  Whatever loser enjoy the cold!  I did let him in, the dog was going to wake up the entire house if I didn’t.

Sunday: Went to church, came home, went to Wal*Mart.  Found the same panties at Wallyworld that I paid $9 for at Kohl’s for under $3.  She got 2 more pairs.  I had to get her some tall socks too & wasn’t going to buy them at the mall, got 6 pairs in a bag for under $7!  Went home and lounged around until Extreme Home Make-over came on, and then I watched Desperate Housewives & Grey’s Anatomy.  I love that show, it was so good!  After that I watched Sex in the City and then went to sleep.

I’ve got to get going  home so I will update more tomorrow, if my day isn’t as busy as it has been the last few days!
